Physical Description

Feltiella acarisuga adults are 2 mm (0.08 inches) long, pinkish-brown, and have long legs.

Eggs laid are 0.25 mm (0.01 inches) in size and are shiny and translucent.
Larvae are 0.2- 2 mm (0.01-0.08 inches) in length and are orange-brown.

Life Cycle

Feltiella acarisuga completes its life cycle within 15–20 days at 25°C (77°F).

Eggs hatch in approximately 2–3 days.
The larval stage lasts about 4–6 days, during which the larvae actively feed on spider mites.
Pupation occurs within a silk-like cocoon, and lasts 7–10 days.
Adults live for 2–3 days, and females lay eggs near spider mite colonies.

Mode of Action

Feltiella acarisuga larvae aggressively hunt for spider mite colonies, using their sharp mouthparts to puncture and feed on their prey. Their fast consumption rate makes them especially useful for managing high-density spider mite infestations and outbreaks. Unlike predatory mites, these larvae can rapidly reduce spider mite populations by consuming multiple mites in a short period.

Ideal Greenhouse Conditions

Feltiella acarisuga is most effective at temperatures between 20-27ºC (68-81ºF) and relative humidity levels between 60-80%.

Application

Open the lid of the container and place it near spider mite infested plants, on a rock wool slab or on the soil, but protected from direct sunlight.
Allow the container to be in place for at least two weeks. High humidity increases the emergence of gall-midges.
