Physical Description

Phytoseiulus persimilis adults are bright reddish orange, with long legs and pear-shaped bodies, measuring 0.5 mm (0.02 inches) long.

Nymphs are a pale salmon colour, and 0.4 mm (0.016 inches) in length.
Eggs are oval and 0.3 mm (0.01 inches) long.

Life Cycle

Phytoseiulus persimilis completes its life cycle within 5 days at 30°C (86°F) to 25 days at 15°C (59°F).

The female to male sex ratio is 4:1, and adult females lay 2-3 eggs per day for an average of 60 eggs over their 35-day lifetime.
Eggs hatch in 2-3 days.
The larval stage is non-feeding, and lasts about 1 day before developing into nymphs.
The nymphal stages comprises the protonymph and deutonymph stages, lasting 1–2 days each.

Mode of Action

Phytoseiulus persimilis is highly mobile and can quickly disperse throughout the plant canopy in search of spider mite prey. Adults and nymphs prey upon all life stages of spider mites, with a preference for eggs and larvae. Upon locating its prey, the Phytoseiulus persimilis pierces the spider mite with its specialized mouthparts and consumes the internal contents,

Ideal Greenhouse Conditions

Phytoseiulus persimilis is most effective at temperatures between 13-27°C (55-81°F) and relative humidity above 70%. Phytoseiulus persimilis is not effective above 30°C (86°F).

Application

Gently turn and rotate bottles before application. Gently rotate the bottle after every few posts or rows to evenly distribute the Phytoseiulus persimilis predatory mites inside.
Sprinkle contents on foliage out of direct sunlight.
Ensure the contents remain on the introduction site for at least a few hours after application.
