Physical Description

Amblyseius cucumeris adults are pear-shaped, tan coloured mites, less than 0.5 mm (0.02 inches) long. Eggs are round, transparent and are 0.14 mm (0.01 inches) in diameter.

Life Cycle

Amblyseius cucumeris has five life stages: egg, larva, protonymph, deutonymph and adult.

Females lay 1-3 eggs per day for an average of 35 eggs over their lifetime. Eggs are laid on leaf hairs along the veins on the lower surface of leaves. They hatch in about 3 days.
Newly hatched larvae do not feed until they moult at 2 days old. They feed for another 7 days, passing through 2 nymphal stages, before becoming adults.
Adults can live for up to 30 days.

Mode of Action

Amblyseius cucumeris nymphs and adults pierce their prey with their sucking mouthparts and suck out the contents. The nymphs and adults actively search for food.

Ideal Greenhouse Conditions

Amblyseius cucumeris is most effective at temperatures between 15-25°C (59-77°F) and relative humidity levels above 70%. It is not effective at temperatures above 30°C (86°F).

Application

Loose:

Gently turn and rotate shaker tubes or buckets before application. Gently rotate the container after every few posts or rows to evently distribute the Amblyseius cucumeris predatory mites inside.
Sprinkle contents on foliage out of direct sunlight.
Ensure the contents remain on the introduction site for at least a few hours after application.

Hook Sachets:

Hang sachets close to the top of the crop, out of direct sunlight.

Stick Sachets:

Place sachet in growing media, out of direct sunlight.
